How to detox WITHOUT losing weight?
Posted in Diet & Fitness on 04/09/2008 06:20 pm by adminI want to detox my body for clearer skin, more energy and generally to feel more healthy, BUT i’m already naturally skinny so i don’t want to lose wieght. I’m aware that any detox ‘diet’ causes weight loss, but i would like mine to be as minimal as possible. Any ideas for a 7 day plan?
Do you think if I continue to eat my regular meals, I will not become skinny further? I am happy with my current weight so any loss of weight will make me look scrawny.

I’m not sure what ‘detox’ diet you are on, but if its one for ‘pure’ foods just keep plenty of nuts, avocados, bananas and such in your diet and you should be fine.

You’re right that changing your diet will likely result in weight changes. What are you planning on eating during the “detox”? I’d recommend plenty of fruit (that you’re fairly sure you’re not allergic to) and vegetables, and eliminate the canned, processed and boxed/frozen foods. For your grains, oatmeal with some brown sugar ought to do the trick to stay as plain and natural as possible. So if you shop at the outer edges of your local supermarket, you’ll find the foods most healthy for you. The exceptions would be the oatmeal and brown sugar, and frozen veggies are an easy food to make and are quite filling and good for you.

So your body actually detoxes itself all the time, its called your kidneys and your liver, what you eat or don’t eat has no impact on your skin, your best bet is to drink a lot of water and to eat healthy.

The person that said what you eat has no effect on your skin is dead wrong. It absolutely affects your skin, your internal organs, your well-being, in short everything about you. You literally ARE what you eat.
That being said, a real detox diet is not designed with weight loss in mind. The main goal is ridding your body of the toxic crap it accumulates. And yes, the livers and kidneys main function is to process and eliminate the bad stuff, but on occasion they need a boost.
I’ve found the so-called “lemonade diet” to be very effective. Also known as the master cleanse. The main point is to take 7-10 days to clean you out. Literally.
There are pills and footpads and massages, but to really get lasting effects and essentially “reboot” your body, it takes a period of eating very differently than the way you ate to get this way.
Not to worry about the weight loss, you can safely and carefully re-gain any weight you did not want to lose.
